Learn to teach M·Power Yoga’s unique Barre format! M·Power Barre is a dynamic 60-minute cardiovascular workout that will help you move mindfully while building coordination, strength, and self-awareness. The stretching and toning of yoga, the core work of Pilates, and the strengthening principles of ballet combine to make this an interesting and invigorating workout. Barre is a high-intensity class that uses props ranging from resistance bands to kickballs to add challenge, sculpt your muscles, and firm your body.
This weekend intensive will give you the basic structure to teach a well rounded M·Power Barre class, as well as the tools to create your own original choreography when you are ready. You’ll learn an original sequence put together by lead trainer Kitty Orient and will have access to all of the sequences that are created for each training moving forward. You’ll cover yoga and Pilates principles along with an anatomy lecture so that you can understand the “why” behind how we move in M·Power classes and to help you speak accurately about the body. No prior teaching experience is needed to enroll in this training, it’s designed to be accessible to all.
About the Teacher: Kitty Orient
Kitty began her yoga practice in 2001 at Bikram Yoga in Minneapolis. She found that yoga was an excellent means to keep her body healthy, while helping to rehab many old injuries from a life of running, gymnastics, and other sports. She learned over time that relaxation through the breath work that goes hand in hand with a yoga practice was helping her sleep as well as keeping her mind clear and calm on a day-to-day basis. After 4 years of personal practice, she knew she wanted to teach, and in 2005 Kitty completed her first RYT-200 certification for Hot Yoga through Corepower Yoga in Minneapolis. She began teaching in the fall of 2005. Over the next year, she completed her second RYT-200 certification for Vinyasa Yoga, as well as training to teach Yoga Sculpt. Kitty recently completed her third RYT-200, and RYT-500 training in Brazil through Moksha Yoga. Kitty is a graduate of Align Pilates’ Align Barre training, and has been teaching Barre classes since 2009.
